School Advisory Council
The SAC is established by the Pastor, in accordance with Archdiocesan policy, to advise him and the Principal in the governance of the parish school. The SAC cannot act apart from the Pastor and the Principal and cannot make decisions that are binding on the parish school without the approval of the Pastor and Principal. Decisions on major school matters are made only when the SAC has been consulted. The areas in which the SAC has responsibility and shall be consulted include: future planning, policy development, finance, development and public relations, selection of the Principal, evaluation of the Principal’s relationship with the SAC, and major curriculum changes, especially in the areas of education in human sexuality and religious education. The SAC holds regular meetings from August to May.
All meetings are open to the St. Joseph community except for those sessions designated as executive. Non-council members who would like to address the SAC may make a request to the Chairperson, Pastor, or Principal at least ten days prior to the next meeting. The request to address the SAC may be denied if it involves areas in which the SAC has no jurisdiction. To attend a meeting, make a request, or apply for membership, use the form below.
