Do you have to be Catholic to attend St. Joseph Catholic School?

No.  St. Joseph Catholic School welcomes students of all faith backgrounds to apply for admission.  In any given year, approximately 15 to 20 percent of the students at St. Joseph Catholic School are of other faith traditions.  In addition, several of the St. Joseph faculty and staff are not Catholic.  Some of the strongest supporters of the school are adherents of other faiths.  In short, professing a faith other than Catholic is not a hindrance to success at St. Joseph Catholic School.

What is the average class size?

The average class size at St. Joseph Catholic School has typically been in the 12-15 student range.  There is one section per grade throughout the school.  That kind of student-teacher ratio allows for greater individual supervision and attention for each individual student.  Most students do not fit a traditional mold; students need acceleration and/or remediation as the case may be.  St. Joseph Catholic School's low student-teacher ratio allows teachers flexibility and time to assist individual students meet their goals.

St. Joseph Catholic School is fully accredited by the Oklahoma Conference of Catholic Schools Accrediting Association (OCCSAA), which is recognized by the State of Oklahoma.  In Oklahoma, the State Department of Education is assisted in monitoring and approving the accreditation of non-public (private) schools in Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Private School Accreditation Commission (OPSAC).  Accredited Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the Diocese of Tulsa are members of OCCSAA, which is one of the approved accrediting agencies of OPSAC.  Accredited schools usually have a higher quality curriculum and better qualified teachers.  Grades and courses completed at accredited private schools are accepted in public schools, which is important for students completing the Fifth Grade at St. Joseph Catholic School who avoid having to take a test to determine placement in a public middle school.

When was the school last accredited?

St. Joseph Catholic School's full accreditation status was renewed in December of 2018 by the Oklahoma Conference of Catholic Schools Accrediting Association (OCCSAA), which is recognized by the State of Oklahoma.  The school's status was approved for eight years or through December 2026.

What are the professional requirements for teachers at St. Joseph Catholic School?

Full time teachers from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade must be certified by the State of Oklahoma to teach.  Teachers must also complete at least 20 hours of professional development per year.
